Images From The C&H Hog Farm

One of two newly constructed swine barns on C&H Hog Farms near Mt. Judea on Newton County. Co-owner Jason Henson stands next to a newly constructed waste water sewage lagoon. Farrow-to-wean stalls for nursing sows and piglets will soon be filled with swine. Jason Henson stands among 824 gestation sows. The farm will eventually house 2,500 sows and 4,000 pigs. Industrial farm swine spend their lives indoors. Pregnant sows are confined to gestation stalls for nearly four months. Opponents worry waste from the hog farm will leach into Big Creek, which flows into the lower Buffalo National River.
